Rustic Airs is a dual publication by Sybella Perry consisting of a vinyl record released by Hideous Replica and a risograph book published by Atlas Projectos - www.atlasprojectos.net

All recordings, generative-processing, composition & mix by Sybella Perry.
Field recordings made in and between Rotterdam & Hoek van Holland, Netherlands, Harwich & Warwick, England, 2019.

The publication uses the example of ‘airs’, interchangeable melodies from folk songs, that travelled around Britain and were adapted, in search for a way of thinking that addresses mobility, transformation and plurality. In an approach that combines generative electroacoustic composition with instrumental recordings of folk music and critical writing with travelogue, change appears in the gaps between notes and narratives, between people, between spaces and places, words, sounds and topical fields.
